Landscape planting soils are reconstituted from the arable earth of agricultural or ancient agricultural soils, collected by stripping from newly urbanized zones. The main objective for the soil is that it drains well to allow the flow of excess water; has adequate aeration and water retention so that root colonisation can take place. [UMN]
