"Three components for collaborative approaches to natural resource management in urban and other dynamic areas are essential: a broad constituency, a higher quality of participation in dialogues between constituents and professionals, and conflict resolution with diverse groups. Although there are disadvantages (added time and possible conflict), collaborative approaches can reduce conflict, yield better solutions, and lead to greater constituent support." [Abstract]
