A feature of the urban forest of Tehran are the tree-lined canals which were constructed along major avenues during the Pahlavi Dynasty (in the 1920s)...The purpose of this paper is to describe this unique canal system for street trees, discuss its management, relate it to other characteristics of the Tehran urban forest, and explore its future.
