Preserving Trees in Construction Sites

"Trees provide great benefits where we live, work, and play. Our close proximity with trees may create conflict especially in land preparation for construction. Building foundations, sidewalks, sewer lines, and roads can cause numerous changes in the environment. Postconstruction landscaping such as installing underground sprinklers, laying sod grass, and planting flowers and shrubs can further change the environment. Many of these changes can be devastating to trees.

Trenching, soil compaction, soil clearing, and grading are common construction activities." [from publication Introduction]
