A Guide to Deciduous Tree Knowledge
Provides basic descriptions of tree species common to the North Dakota region.
This online factsheet gives basic identification characteristics for common trees of the Midwest divided into four categories (simple opposite, simple alternate, compound opposite, and compound alternate). Includes an explanation of common and scientific names, leaf margin comparisons, and very basic descriptions of each tree species with a drawing of its leaf.
"This circular is not meant to be complete, just to stimulate interest in learning some of the more common deciduous trees found in our region. It is intended to aid in the fundamentals of identification and increase your appreciation of the beautiful trees that so richly enhance our lives."
