Invasive Island Plants
Many introduced plants area choking the native species out of existence in Hawaii.
The Big Island Invasive Species Committee (BIISC) and the Hawaii Ecosystems at Risk (HEAR) have created a two page pamphlet warning citizens of the dangers of non-native plants, animals, and insects. The list includes over 40 species that aggressively distribute on the islands. Some plants receive assistance dispersing seed from local birds. Other plants simply smother native vegetation.
