This technology transfer contains the reference documents for the case study and guide to the Banklick Creek Watershed analysis and issue characterization for education and outreach
What's In Your Watershed? A Case Study and Guide for The Banklick Creek Watershed Analysis and Issue Characterization for Education and Outreach is a manual to assist newly formed watershed councils to better understand the impact that urban and rural forests have in their watershed, involve the public, set realistic goals, better utilize available resources, and develop strategies to achieve their goals.
The manual outlines and describes a process for assessing the value of urban and rural forests to improve water quality, decrease stormwater runoff, and better manage a watershed. A protocol was developed to determine ecological and citizen-based priorities and create effective communication tools and strategies.
The goal of this project was to document the process and results to serve as a model that watershed councils across the country can duplicate.
These reference documents contain examples of the data collected, documents, maps, and statistical analyses that were produced, and the educational and outreach efforts made.
It is intended that the contents of the Reference Documents for What's In Your Watershed? are to be used in conjunction with the What's In Your Watershed? manual as examples of what watershed councils can expect to produce and use during their own watershed analysis and issues characterization project.
The Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission, Davey Resource Group, and Banklick Watershed Council would like to thank the project partners and citizens of the Banklick Creek watershed for participating in this project, and wish all watershed councils similar success in completing this important part of their watershed management action plans.
