Reforestation and Landscape Plans (City of Myrtle Beach)

A presentation of reforestation and landscape plans for the City of Myrtle Beach (SC). Includes design and plant material for:

Myrtle Beach Colored School (ca. 1932)

Grissom Parkway (portion of East Coast Greenway)

Fantasy Harbour (gateway)

Perrin’s Path (portion of East Coast Greenway)

Dunes Club (Hwy 17 right-of-way)

This project also developed an Indigenous Carolina Plant Catalog. The plants were selected based on the following criteria:

Urban tolerance-resistance to drought

Native origin (Southeast) ability to withstand heat and humidity

Aesthetic value

The few trees that are not native were chosen because they are superior in their ability to withstand our (SC coastal) climate and they offer outstanding aesthetic value. This catalog is an extension of the wildflower catalog and includes more than 350 plants.[Converted from the original Powerpoint to a PDF by SCUFR&I, May 2007]
