Spruce Gall Adelgids
Although not a serious threat in forest conditions, these aphids can cause branch dieback and deformation on ornamental spruces.
Besides stunting andkilling new growth, adelgids also create a habitat for more dangerous organismsto infect. The two types of adelgids that feed on spruce sap are the Eastern spruce gall adelgid and theCooley spruce gall adelgid. Insecticidal soaps are available for some controland the galls can be handpicked for destruction.
